Those there included from tiny tots to members of the Ladies and Mens National League teams.

17 athletes from Killester Special Olympics
took part in 3v3 games and a knockout competition.

Knockout finalist t-shirts were presented to
Alex, Conor, Caitriona and Christina

From the photos, it is clear a great afternoon
was had by all!

Season Off To A Good Start

Now that the season is in it's fourth week, the athletes have all been training hard every Friday night practicing their dribbling, shooting, passing and, in the case of all the teams, their team work skills as seen by the photographs.

Friday, May 27th. The Beachcomber, Killester

Another season has come to an end at Killester Special Olympics, and we were well prepared to see it out with a bang. Athletes, family members and volunteers came together for the last event of the season, the much awaited Social night. There was food, fun and a bit of a boogie to celebrate one of our most successful years to date. Three of our teams lined out on the night to receive awards -  Our Development squad were presented with their league winners medals by their proud coach Alan, while our Mens selection lifted the trophy for their recent victory during the Fingal Cup. Up last, but by no means least, were our Ladies, who romped home with a fantastic silver in the Eastern Region League. Well done to one and all, keep up the training over the summer to be match fit for September

Gold for Killester Mens Selection
Combined team romps home to victory in Fingal Cup

Medal success for Killester Ladies
A season of hard work and determination pays off with well deserved SILVERware

While many of us were sleeping off the Jamboree on Sunday May 15th, a Killester Mens selection were up bright and early and off to ALSAA to compete in the inaugural Fingal Cup. This one-day event, organised by our friends in Swords, brought some tough competition for our athletes, who were no doubt fatigued at the end of a busy season.
But no challenge is too steep for our men, who fought through the day unbeaten to claim victory. Under the guidance of Eugene O'Callaghan, our Mens A Coach, they played exceptionally well as a unit and kept calm under pressure.

This team, comprised of athletes from our Mens B team and Development Squad showed us that the future of our Killester teams is indeed Bright Orange
Well done Guys!!!!!

Our hard working ladies team have ended their league season with a fantastic second place finish.  Comprehensive wins both home and away to Blackrock Flyers saw the girls put their weekly training to the test.
"While we love medals at Killester, the win is only a small part of the journey this team has taken this year", beams team coach Christina. " The girls have worked exceptionally hard week in week out on their individual skills, while forging a solid bond within the team. I couldn't be prouder of their achievements and teamwork this year"

Congratulations Girls from all at Killester SO, Looking forward to the medal presentation at the Social night.

Fundraising event
SuperValu Killester

On Saturday April 16th, athletes, families and club volunteers participated in bag packing in SuperValu Killester to raise much needed funds for our programme. Fundraising events in the community are a great way for our athletes to meet people and share their stories, while also giving back. Everyone enjoyed their time and we are delighted to announce, no shopping was harmed!!! The Committee would like to thank the Management and Staff of SuperValu Killester for being so welcoming and our volunteers, athletes and their families who gave their time on the day.

Volunteers Wanted

As we tip off for the new season, we are looking for eager volunteers to join our team.
Prior basketball experience is not essential, but you need to be a registered volunteer with Special Olympics Ireland.  If you would like to get involved, drop us an email.
